HDTV Capabilities Meet Increasing Demand of Clients Like Fox Sports With the San Francisco Giants

MediaOne Services is delivering to the increasing HDTV needs of clients throughout California. Sports Channels, such as Fox Sports and ESPN are leading the way for HD on television and into US households. This has put pressure upon venues and stadiums to keep up with the equipment, infrastructure and expertise to deliver to those broadcasters. MediaOne Services, with its services to SBC Park and its partnership with the San Francisco Giants, is delivering on the HD promise. SBC Park is only one of a half dozen MLB stadiums in the country "wired" for HD transmission. Starting in August going forward, all the remaining Giant's games will be broadcast in HD for Fox Bay Area Sports. Because the Giant's brought in MediaOne to ensure the highest level of technical proficiency, no other baseball stadium in California has the broadcast capability and efficiency of SBC Park.

MediaOne transmits live HD signals from SBC Park that are compressed from 1.5 Gbs to a 270 Mbs data stream. The company also downlinks HDTV signals via satellite at its San Francisco facility and is experienced in transmitting live broadcasts in high definition, via fiber, since 2003.
